7.Application and recommended usage of small high power thin film ship resistors
7.1 Gate resistor
・Where IGBT is used in motor driving circuits or inverter circuits, gate resistor is used to suppress surge voltage as shown below.
・Rapid turn on/off fast switching IGBT and SiC FET require small high power resistors.
An example of gate resistor

Gate resistor suppresses surge voltage
Gate resistor buffers the change of corrector current
Surge voltage control by gate resistor when IGBT is turned off
・Application example:Motor driving circuits, Inverter circuits where IGBT and SiC FET are used.
・Recommended products: PRG series(long side terminal), HRG series(short side terminal)
7.2 Snubber circuits
・Power supply circuits, or inverter circuits where high speed switching such as IGBT is needed, snubber circuit below is added to absorb surge voltage due to switching.
・With miniaturization of the units, small but high power resistors are needed for snubber circuits.
RC snubber circuit
RCD snubber circuit
Examples of snubber circuits

Absorption of surge voltage by snubber circuit
・Application:Motor driving circuits, Inverters, Power supply circuits, IGBT related circuits
・Recommended products:PRG series(long side terminal), HRG series(short side terminal)
